Working Toward Your Recovery
What You Need to Know
Before starting a WSIB claim in Ontario, you must first seek medical attention and report your injury to your employer as soon as possible. You will then need the following three forms completed:
-
Form 6 (From you, the injured worker)
-
Form 7 (From your Employer)
-
Form 8 (From your Healthcare provider)
Once these forms have been submitted, your claim number has been issued, and your claim is approved, you can contact us or visit the clinic to book your appointment.
When should I start WSIB treatment?
You can begin treatment once you have completed the required steps and your WSIB claim has been approved. At that point, you may come in or contact our clinic to book your appointment. Our team will guide you through the authorization process and explain the next steps to ensure your care starts smoothly.
Do I need a referral to start treatment?
No referral is required to start treatment under WSIB. However, you must report your injury to your employer and complete all the required forms before starting treatment.
What do I need to bring to my first appointment for direct billing?
Please bring your WSIB claim number and, if available, the contact information for your claims adjuster. This helps us communicate efficiently with WSIB and avoid delays in your care.
What can I expect at my first appointment?
Your first visit includes a comprehensive assessment with one of our practitioners. Following the examination, we will create a personalized treatment plan based on our findings and begin treatment sessions tailored to your recovery and return-to-work goals.
What is a Program of Care (POC)?
A Program of Care is a treatment plan created after your initial assessment. It outlines your diagnosis, recommended treatments, visit frequency, recovery goals, and expected timelines. POC is submitted to the workers' compensation insurance carrier for approval before continuing ongoing treatments.
Can I receive more than one type of treatment?
Yes, many patients benefit from a multidisciplinary approach. Our team works together to combine services such as chiropractic care, and rehabilitation exercises to provide coordinated and effective treatment.
Will therapy help me return to work safely?
Yes, helping you return to work safely and comfortably is at the heart of what we do. Our care focuses on reducing pain, rebuilding strength, and restoring movement and function needed for your job. Our goal is to help you return to work with confidence while minimizing the risk of re-injury.
How long will my recovery take?
Treatment length varies based on the nature of your injury, your job requirements, and how your body responds to care. Most patients are initially covered for up to eight weeks. If additional treatment is needed, we can request extended coverage through WSIB. Your progress is regularly reviewed, and your POC is updated as needed.
